Fees and Policy

Session Fees

For Walk and Talk Therapy Sessions and Initial Telehealth Assessments

The Australian Psychological Society recommends a 50-60 minute session is $300, but our fees are lower, and on a sliding scale, to provide equitable services:

  • FULL FEE $240* - For individuals with an average or above average income

  • REDUCED FEE $210* - If you are a student or are experiencing financial hardship please discuss this with us, and we will happily charge a reduced rate

  • LOW FEE $180* - For individuals with a Low-Income Health Care Card or Pension Card

  • BULK BILLING AVAILABLE - For Walk and Talk Sessions with Noongar folk. I’m not going to charge you to walk on your boodja for your mental health! You deserve that option more than the rest of us. The government can foot that bill! Please know that the initial Telehealth session will be charged according to the above rates and that there is still a cancelation/non-attendance fee. Make sure you let me know ahead of time if you have to cancel or reschedule, because Medicare does not pay for non-attendance.

Fees are to be settled in full directly after each session via automatic debit from your nominated bank account. If you are eligible for a Medicare rebate, we will process it online at that time, then Medicare will rebate the credited amount to your nominated bank account typically within 24-48 hours.

*Current Medicare Rebates

$141.85 - Telehealth Sessions

$165.95 - Walk & Talk Sessions

To be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year, you must have a Mental Heath Care Plan (MHCP) through referral from your GP (or occasionally another specialist). You or your GP will need to email the referral letter & MHCP before your Telehealth Assessment Session.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Funding

We are not NDIS providers, and are not set up for 3rd party billing. Clients may pay for their sessions at Liminal Place at full fee ($240), as if they were a privately paying client, and then take their invoice to NDIS for reimbursement. It is your responsibility to check with NDIS to ensure your NDIS plan includes psychological services, and how much funding is allocated, to ensure that NDIS will refund you. This usually means we see clients who are self-managed, but sometimes individuals who are plan-managed can also take personal responsibility for billing. Liminal Place is not responsible for NDIS reimbursement decisions.

Other Policy

  • Private health insurers may also rebate part of the cost of your psychological consultations. Contact your health insurance provider for further information. Be aware that “double dipping” is not allowed (i.e. using both Medicare and private health for the same session). We will provide a Tax Invoice, which you can take to your insurance provider for a rebate, if available.

We do not currently see clients for Workers Compensation Claims, Motor Accident Claims, or the Department of Veterans Affairs.

  • We set aside our time for your appointment, so if you need to cancel or change an appointment, please let us know ASAP. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, please expect the following fees (with no Medicare rebate) regardless of your concession rate. The fee is:

    $75 for 24-48 hours notice

$150 for less than 24 hours notice

This is necessary to cover the costs associated with providing the service (administration costs, time spent preparing or traveling to location, loss of income, inability to utilise time slot for other client). We are happy to provide appointment reminders by text or email. However the ultimate responsibility for attending a scheduled session lies with the client.

On the rare occasion where Liminal Place must cancel one of your session, we will let you know as soon as possible. If due to illness or emergency, it is with less than 48 hours, we will make sure we don’t charge you for late cancellation next time the shoe is on the other foot! Your time valuable too!!
